Petition · past parliament

Stop MP’s receiving their pension earlier than voters recieve the state pension.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

I can see no valid reason why an MP should be in a better financial position than an ordinary member of the public and would expect this to focus the minds of our representatives on bettering the financial position of all pensioners.
To save the tax payer money and to encourage our elected representatives to to work diligently to better the position of the majority.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for deciding on MPs' pay and pensions. This is the responsibility of the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA), which is independent of both Parliament and Government.

You could start a new petition calling on the UK Government to change the pension age for the State Pension if that is something you would like to see happen.
