What the petition asks
Thousands of employees working for the government earn under the real living wage - currently £10.55 p/hour in London & £9.00 p/hour outside of London.
All workers deserve at least the living wage & the government should be leading by example ensuring that in-house & outsourced staff receive it.
All workers deserve at least the living wage & the government should be leading by example ensuring that in-house & outsourced staff receive it.
Currently nearly 3,000 workers at the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) earn below the real living wage, as do hundreds of workers who are outsourced at the MoJ such as security guards, cleaners and receptionists. They are now taking strike action through their union United Voices of the World (UVW), as are outsourced staff through PCS Union at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) simply because the government won't listen and refuses to pay them a wage they can live off.
