Review the act of rehoming lost dogs from 7 days to 28 days

What the petition asks
7 days does not give the owner time to come forward. Especially as there are certain legal procedures to follow. There is not enough information of what steps to take. The awaiting reports from vets and Dog wardens does not make the 7 day ruling realistic.
When a family pet goes missing what steps do you take at this distressing time.? There should be a simple guideline, but also a time limit that reflects all the necessary searches and avenue's the distraught owner has to endure with this very stressful ordeal. A plan of action put into place with a cap on fees. This would stop the monies being the incentive for unscrupulous organisations.
