Stop benefits for all asylum seekers if they have passed through a safe country

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

We need to stop all benefits for all asylum seekers if they’re country is not at war or they have passed through or come from a country that is safe for them to seek asylum.

They do not need to come to the U.K. for asylum and are only coming to take advantage of our benefit system.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

In some circumstances, people can claim asylum in the UK if they have passed through other safe countries. The guidance is in this Home Office document:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/dublin-iii-regulation

People seeking asylum in the UK can access some support. You can find out more here:

https://www.gov.uk/asylum-support/what-youll-get

But they do not have access to the wider benefits system.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
