Allow the possession of a registered pepper spray as a self-defence weapon

In face of looming and spiralling out of control knife and noxious substances, the law abiding citizens and residents have literally no means to protect themselves from thugs, muggings, random knife attacks, gun point attacks, rape and more serious GBHs. We're asking HM government to follow the example of other EU countries such as Austria, Czech, Denmark, Finland ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pepper_spray) and allow the possession of a registered pepper spray as a self defence weapon.
