Life imprisonment for MPs trying to reverse Brexit for personal gain

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Any Parliamentarian caught trying to reverse Brexit for their personal/financial/religious interests to be imprisoned for life.
Parliamentary greed is not the public's responsibility, EU pensions are not the public's responsibility and land subsidies are not the public's responsibility. Democracy does not belong to the House of Commons or the House of Lords and it doesn't even belong to Her Majesty the Queen, it belongs to the people. Parliamentarians have no legal right to defy democracy, the British public, never lone their constituents for personal gain.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

The House of Commons already has a Code of Conduct for MPs. MPs are already required to register and declare financial interests, and to avoid conflicts of interest, so we're not sure exactly what further action you'd like to see.

You can find the Code of Conduct for the House of Commons here:

https://www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/standards-and-financial-interests/parliamentary-commissioner-for-standards/code-of-conduct-and-rules-of-the-house/

In any case, the UK Parliament and Government are not responsible for imprisoning people.
