End the use of all antibiotics as growth promoters in animals

What the petition asks
Sweeden have ended the use of antibiotics as growth promoters, setting an example to us all.
A report calling for the immediate end to the use of antibiotics as growth promoters can be found at
http://www.fao.org/docrep/ARTICLE/AGRIPPA/555_EN.HTM
Leaving the EU may mean that this is an issue, along with other animal welfare and health issues, such as genetically modified crops, growth promoters and hormone fed food, which may be used to gain a trade deal with the USA, where the use of antibiotics is widespread.

Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We can't accept your petition because the use of antibiotics as growth promoters in animals was banned in the UK and the rest of the EU in 2006. We are therefore unsure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.
