What the petition asks
Help us make the selling and cooking of live crustaceans (lobsters, crabs etc) illegal and get them included under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Our aim is to insure anyone farming, storing or slaughtering them must abide by animal welfare rules. Therefore, providing good water quality, enough food, humane slaughter and protection from pain.
There’s scientific evidence suggesting that crabs, lobsters, prawns and crayfish experience pain and emotion. Yet they are still sold, torn apart and boiled alive. Authorities were powerless to prosecute because these animals aren’t currently covered under animal welfare legislation.
