What the petition asks
We believe that outdoor learning is significant for the health, well-being, physical, social and emotional development of children. We believe that primary school children need longer daily outdoor sessions in all seasons and weathers, connecting with nature and learning about natural phenomena.
Evidence that children being outdoors on a daily basis, all year round, benefits their learning and development has been documented in Scandinavia for over 20 years, recent studies in the UK support these findings: children’s confidence is developed by them having the freedom, time and space to learn; Motivation & concentration is developed through fascination with nature; Physical skills are improved by being outdoors; Children’s health & immunity is strengthened; creating 'competent' children.
