Support student nurses better financially.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Currently there is no financial aid in assisting with housing costs such as rent as our placement is classed as work.

If this is correct then why are we not paid a basic working wage.
Currently I am a student nurse. I work 40 hours on placement a week unpaid.

Once a month I get £450 from NHS Bursary.

This is not even minium wage and does not even cover basic bills like rent and bills.

We then have to do bank work just to earn enough to survive resulting in utter and complete burnout before we join the NHS!

We are not supported financially and ultimately not respected.

Many students have been forced to leave the nursing degree due to financial difficulties.

We are the future of the NHS but yet left to suffer below the poverty line.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you would like more financial help for student nurses, but we are not sure exactly what help you would like.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
