What the petition asks
With the amount of illegal gas appliances installed In the UK something has to be done with regards to the supply of gas appliances and fittings. I propose that only Gas Safe Registered Engineers should be able to purchase appliances to help reduce the amount of incidents that involve gas appliance
The amount of illegally installed appliances could be reduced if our government anounced to merchants and through the .gov website that only qualified and registered engineers can purchase gas appliances and fittings. Helping our industry health and safety executive control this type of installation. This regulation change will benefit the Gas Safe Register. The Health and safety Executive and the Customer. Serious consideration should be given to this petition.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We can't accept your petition because we aren't sure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.
We understand you would like restrictions on who can buy gas appliances but your petition suggests no-one would be able to buy them at all except trained engineers. We aren't sure that's what you'd like to happen.
You could start a new petition setting out clearly the change you would like to see happen.
