Prevent permanent closure of bridge on B571 Irthlingborough Rd Wellingborough

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

The bridge was due to be reopened on 11th April following electrification of rail lines. It is now proposed for this to remain closed on a permenant basis. The Leyland Trading Estate employs some 1000 people . Businesses are affected together with the Town Centre
No discussions or notices have been given by Network Rail who still display signs informing the bridge is to re-open on 11th April. This is also confirmed on Highways Agency website. This is all incorrect and the entire area is blighted with road closures rendering it impossible for Emergency Services to reach the Leyland Estate within reasonable timescales. OBJECTIONS MUST BE IN BY 14th MARCH. PLEASE SIGN, CIRCULATE ASAP to assist in a public enquiry

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because granting a road closure order is the responsibility of Northamptonshire County Council and not the UK Government or Parliament.

Northamptonshire County Council has its own petitions system. You can find out how to petition the Council here:
