Enact Mandatory Reporting Legislation.

What the petition asks
Mandatory Reporting is vital to protect children trapped in the silence of the abusive experience. Without it children will continue to be abused and doctors may feel unable to initiate concern. It will protect healthcare professionals by making it an offence NOT to report reasonable suspicion.
In 2015 the Children’s Commissioner estimated that 1.3 million children will be sexually abused by their 18th birthday; only 1 in 8 receiving a Statutory response that is “largely disclosure led”, when a child speaks out rather than a doctor initiating concern.
