Regulate cannabis the same as alcohol.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

keeping cannabis illegal is not evidence based, you cannot justify criminalising people for cannabis, when it is scientifically proven to be 114× safer than alcohol, a legal recreational drug.

Alcohol is a legal recreational drug. There is a substantial body of evidence to show that drugs, such as alcohol, are harmful and can damage people’s mental and physical health, & our wider communities. Evidence from around the world shows us, that the use of alcohol is a significant public health issue & can unquestionably cause harm to individuals & society.

Given the greater harms caused by alcohol, the Government cannot justify criminalising people for the recreational use of cannabis.
