Rejected

What the petition asks
If a woman falsely accuses a man of rape the man immediately receives a bad reputation that damages his life. In some cases people receive death threats or sometimes get tortured and tormented physically and mentally.
Gregory Counts was a man who was falsely accused of rape and served unnecessary jail time for a crime he did not commit.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We're not sure exactly what you would like the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Making a false allegation of a crime may already in some circumstances lead to a jail sentence - for example, if someone is found guilty of perverting the course of justice. In other cases, people who are accused of making false accusations may be prosecuted for wasting police time.
It is not clear to us how you would like the law to be changed.
