Petition · past parliament
I want MP’s to discuss and justify their above inflation pay rise.

What the petition asks
There has been reports today of a pay rise agreed for Members of Parliament. It states that the pay rise is above inflation. Surely the lowest earners in society deserve and need the bigger pay rise? Nurses, carers etc some of whom have to depend on food banks and benefits to make ends meet
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
