What the petition asks
Modern Slavery is estimated to affect 136,000 people throughout the UK (GSI). Adding Modern Slavery to the national curriculum equips young people with awareness, knowledge, indicators of slavery and early warning signs. It will impact our future communities and help them to become slavery free.
Modern Slavery is a abhorrent reality often hidden in plain sight within communities across the UK. Ending modern slavery is one of the Government's top priorities, a key structure is '...protecting vulnerable people from exploitation and increasing awareness of and resilience against this crime'. Introducing this issue within the national curriculum helps to protect, prevent and prepare young people whilst actively striving towards ending modern slavery within the UK.
