Commit to smear testing for abnormal cells and HPV regardless of HPV result

What the petition asks
NHS & PHE should commit to not changing cervical screening.
Some people propose that smear samples should be taken and tested for HPV virus only, to begin with.
Some people propose that smear samples should be taken and tested for HPV virus only, to begin with.
If HPV virus is negative, the smear sample will be disposed of & not tested for abnormal cells.
If HPV virus is positive, they will go on to test the smear sample for abnormal cells.
A Gynaecologist Nurse was interviewed. Her opinion is that the smear test should not be replaced by HPV virus testing alone, but both should be carried out.
