Ensure that knives sold in UK shops are locked away in secure cabinets.

What the petition asks
As of right now, in 2019, it is legal for knives to be sold without being locked away in secure cabinets, meaning that anyone, including those underage, can pick a knife up off the shelf and steal it. The epidemic of knife crime in the UK recently means that this needs to change.
Official statistics show an increase of 47.5% in knife-related offences in 34 English and Welsh counties between April 2010 and September 2018.
This compared with an 11% knife crime rise within the capital.
The BBC tracked the first 100 homicides of 2019 and found that 40 of those were stabbings, 23 were unknown and 37 were other.
The statistics alone are terrifying and something needs to be done to help prevent this from happening, especially at such an alarming rate.
