Make it mandatory for MPs to fact check their social media posts

What the petition asks
MP Ester McVey shared an inflammatory article about all EU countries being forced to adopt the Euro. This was ‘fake news’. MPs should not be allowed to distribute lies to suit their own political agenda. It is an abuse of their position.

Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because how MPs use their social media accounts is their responsibility and not that of the UK Government or Parliament as a whole.
You could start a new petition establishing an independent fact checking body for all social media users if that's something you would like to see happen.
