Impose a 10p tax on single use plastic bottles
Rejected

What the petition asks
Plastic bottles are widely used and are damaging our environment and are entering eco-systems and oceans. 90% of plastic waste ever created has never been recycled. It takes one plastic bottle at least 450 years to fully decompose. Imposing a tax will reduce consumption of plastic bottles.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the UK Government or Parliament to do. In particular we're not sure who you'd like to be taxed, for example manufacturers or retailers, or if you'd like a charge on consumers, similar to the plastic bag charge.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
