Make it compulsary for carbon footprint information to be stated on packaging
Rejected

What the petition asks
Climate change is being caused by carbon emissions. The manufacture, transportation and disposal of a product contributes to its carbon footprint. Knowledge about the carbon cost of products is important to allow consumers to make a more informed decision of which products to buy.
Consumers are becoming more aware of the causes of climate change and should be empowered to make purchasing decisions that reflect their concerns. The carbon cost of products should be calculated using a recognised standard such as PAS 2050. The information should be presented in a standardised way, similarly to nutritional information, so that consumers can compare products easily.
