What the petition asks
You may have read that funding in education is at record levels, because there are more children in the education system than before. Schools have had real-terms budget reductions because of the ‘flat cash settlement’ creating a 10% cut in real terms. While Pensions, NI and staff costs have gone up.
Schools have already been forced to make cuts and, without change will make further cuts including:
Increase class sizes/reduce the number of teachers
Staff teaching outside of their specialism
Cut the number of courses
Reduce curriculum time for courses
Cut extra-curricular
Reduce admin, teacher training & pastoral care
Reduce the support staff to work with children with SEN
Remove counselling support
Reductions in Health and Social Care, we are being asked to do more with less
