Criminals to be forced to pay the victims at least how much their crime costs us

What the petition asks

We the British people are sick and tired of being out of pocket when affected by criminal theft and vandalism! We demand the minimum punishment on top of the standard punishment is to repay the victim st least the amount they have been put out of pocket.

For too long our justice system has forgotten the victims of crime, how is it fair that we have to pay excess on insurance premiums which is in most cases at least 5 times the amount the criminal gets fined. For example an absolute drunken idiot put our local garage and car windows through and his financial penalty from the courts was an £85 victim surcharge. Enough is enough. When my car got broke into it cost me £500 excess, his fine was £100 none of which came to me!
