What the petition asks
General Practice is both a therapeutic and diagnostic specialty providing continuing, comprehensive healthcare for the individual and family, integrating biological, clinical and behavioural sciences to treat patients of all ages, sexes, organ systems and diseases.
As evidenced by membership with the RCGP we have demonstrated, and been certified by, examination our continued mastery of the core knowledge and skills for our chosen medical profession. Our specialty.
We want it to be recognised as such alongside Australia, US, Canada and 24 out of 28 EU states. Considered by other countries the founder of modern general practice yet lacking the foresight to acknowledge that it’s own GP’s are expert specialists.
