Would MPs be willing to work for the minimum wage?

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

MPs recently accepted a pay increase to a level ordinary working people can only dream of. MPs are claiming huge expenses far in excess of the majority of people's salaries.
Would MPs be willing to serve if they were paid the minimum wage?

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
