Reform Britain’s colonial-era voting system.

What the petition asks
Who can vote in the UK hasn’t moved on since the days of Empire. The EU ref showed its absurdity. As an Indian citizen, I could vote but my EU neighbours and British relative in Brussels couldn’t. This must change. All legally resident in the UK, Brits overseas & 16-18 year olds must have the vote.
Brexit has stripped bare the dysfunctionality of British politics. Polls reveal 82% say “British politics is working poorly at present”. Amidst talk of a democratic deficit & need for a new constitutional settlement, the question of who actually gets to vote has been ignored.
As student climate strikers demand a youth vote, EU residents & overseas Brits call for political representation, these issues demand attention. We need Parliament to act to bring Britain's democracy into the modern age.
