What the petition asks
The latest IPCC report on climate change gives us until 2030 to ensure that global warming does not overshoot a 1.5°C increase to catastrophic consequences.
Declare an annual day of reflection on how we as a nation are tackling carbon targets, and of celebration where we have achieved them.
Declare an annual day of reflection on how we as a nation are tackling carbon targets, and of celebration where we have achieved them.
In the spirit of the global youth climate strikes of 15 March 2019, we must instigate a culture of engagement in order to recognise the urgency of the situation and ensure we preserve the planet for future generations.
Our proposed National Climate Day would involve:
•Corporations setting and reviewing their carbon reduction targets
•Schools focusing a day of the year on climate change
•Government raising awareness of climate change and informing the public of our progress in tackling emissions
