Petition · past parliament

Hold a referendum for Welsh independence.

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

The people deserve more power for Wales in Wales, independent or not. The idea of Welsh sovereignty has been around since Owain Glyndwr was crowned Prince of Wales in 1404. Since then Wales has suffered issues with the schooling, mining and all round abuse regarding the culture and the language.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can only accept petitions which call for actions that are the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament. It's not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament to allow a vote on Welsh independence.

You could start a new petition calling on the UK Government to work with the Welsh Government to bring about a vote for the people of Wales on independence from the UK.
