Suspend Brunei from the Commonwealth until it removes barbaric homophobic law
Rejected
21 signatures
What the petition asks
Brunei - Commonwealth member since 1984 - already criminalising gay people, has introduced the death penalty for consenting homosexuality. This is in clear breach of the Commonwealth charter. This requires unequivocal condemnation, and a clear signal that persecution cannot be tolerated.
Commonwealth charter's 16 core values include: tolerance, respect, understanding, freedom of expression and the role of a CIVIL society.
