Require employers to consider long-term health risks when setting pay

Closed 32 signatures

What the petition asks

Wages today may not reflect the risk to life or injury, long term health risks and antisocial hours that workers take on in their jobs. Employers should be required to show they have considered these factors when setting a persons’ pay.
One example would be truck drivers, some earn just above minimum wage yet it is one of the most dangerous jobs in the UK with the HSE reporting over 40 deaths last year. It’s been known for some time now that truck drivers are at higher risks of long term health issues due to the nature of the job. Most truck drivers are working on average 60 hours a week to survive taking them away from time with family, friends, social life’s or hobbies often expected to work weekends for no extra reward.
