Close all bars serving alcohol within the House of Commons

Closed 111 signatures

What the petition asks

The workplace is no place for alcohol. There have been many and varied events where the behaviour of MPs and HoC staff under the influence of alcohol have fallen below those expected by the public, including allegations of sexual harrasment, bullying and assault.
While bars and social clubs in offices, factories, hospitals and police stations have closed because of the cost and the health and safety implications, bars in the HoC have remained open. There is no special case for MPs having any capacity to consume alcohol at work given the evidence of misbehaviour whilst under the influence of alcohol, and the importance of decision making in the HoC. The area around the HOC has adequate places to drink after the working day if needed.
