The UK Government should grant Julian Assange asylum

Rejected 14 signatures

What the petition asks

Since Julian Assange has left the Ecuadorian embassy he is now at risk of extradition to the United States. This is related to his work in publishing details of US war crimes. If the UK government is to stand up for the freedom of the press it should apply those ideals and grant asylum to Assange.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

Granting someone asylum does not prevent them from being prosecuted or extradited, so we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
