What the petition asks
In Scotland we the people are sovereign and this political "Union" no longer serves our needs (if indeed it ever did) & we invoke our right to determine the form of Government best suited to our needs and Westminster has failed in this regard by threatening to take us out of the EU against our will.
Also the treaty of "Union" 1707 has been breached many times including the example below.
The status of royal burghs as Article 21 provided for the protection of the rights of the royal burghs. "That the Rights and Privileges of the Royal Boroughs in Scotland as they now are Do Remain entire after the Union and notwithstanding thereof".
Royal burghs were abolished in 1975 by the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973.
