Stop TV/Telecom/Energy companies from increasing your contract when in mid term

Rejected 16 signatures

What the petition asks

Too many companies believe they have a right to increase a consumer prices when in contract. For example each year companies currently have a right to increase your price by 2% inline with inflation even though this wasn't the price you contractually agreed to pay. The price you agree is the price.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can only accept petitions which call for actions that are the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament. Regulation of media and telecommunications contracts is the responsibility of Ofcom, which, while accountable to Parliament, is independent of both the Government and Parliament.

You could raise the issue directly with Ofcom. Find out how to contact Ofcom here:

You could start a new petition about energy prices if that is something you would like to see happen.
