Stop Funding Cuts To Women's Refuges
Rejected
21 signatures
What the petition asks
‘What happens behind closed doors stays behind closed doors’ this is a damaging mentality society has adopted but with two women being killed per week by their partner this phrase is more damaging then ever and highlights that domestic abuse needs to be taken seriously.
The governments new domestic violence bill is a step in the right direction drawing much needed attention to the issue however the government’s actions fail to meet the bill’s words. In 2018 1.3 million women in England and Wales were victims of domestic abuse highlighting a much-needed improvement in support for domestic abuse survivors. Cuts to funding means victims are unable to escape their abuse.
