What the petition asks
On the 15th July the government will introduce age verification checks on popular porn websites. Though it may sound like a good idea it has many damaging consequences.
- It may jeopardise personal data such as passports and credit cards because data isn't managed by the government.
- It destroys the freedoms of users. Anything you do on these sites is now linked to your personal identity.
- The checks will be ineffective as there are many ways around it such as using VPNs. There is also a lot of adult content on sites such as twitter.
- Children will be at greater risk to extreme content and malicious advertising due to accessing sites which are unknown.
