What the petition asks
The public feel so strongly that the government is not doing enough to avert a climate catastrophe, that a mass social movement has formed and protests are taking place all over the world from school strikes to Extinction Rebellion. The UK govt must recognise this and meet Extinction Rebellion now.
We are heading for food shortages, We are heading for mass displacement. We are heading for catastrophic loss of billions of lives if we don't change course.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
Government ministers met with representatives from this group in April, so we're not sure exactly what further action you'd like the Government or Parliament to take.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
