What the petition asks
The terrible numbers of horses killed each year for no reason other than for people to bet on the winners and forget the losers is not acceptable.
The number of horse deaths come from the BHA and from Race Horse Death Watch. Way more than 100 horses have been killed in UK horse races every year since records began. In 2018 it was 202. There have been 74 deaths already this year.
There are no figures published for those who die in training. Well over a 100 horses...imagine seeing that many in a field. It would be a great sight.
Now imagine going up to them and shooting each of them in the head. And having to do that every year.
