What the petition asks
Teaching Assistant are a most valuable asset to any school and any teacher. Without them, teachers wouldn’t be able to do the work they do. TAs are very undervalued and paid well below standards.
Particularly TAs in Special Schools are paid well below standards for the highly skilled job they do every day, including medical assistants (flushing, suctioning, seizure handling etc), toileting and assisting teachers in all their requests.
Being a TA requires a patience of s saint, medical skills, academic skills and lots of empathy. Give them the salary they really deserve.
