Petition · past parliament

Make it legal for women to go topless in public.

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

Plenty of people will know that when we get a little bit of sun in the UK, bare male chests are everywhere. If a woman went topless in public, she would be reported. This is blatant sexism. Breasts are for feeding babies, stop sexualising women who feel comfortable not wearing a shirt!

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We can only accept petitions that have a clear request for action from the Government or UK Parliament.

It is not illegal for women to be topless in public. However, you may wish to consider starting a petition that calls for a change in laws on public decency and indecent exposure to prevent women from being prosecuted for being topless in a public place in such cases.

We also need petitioners to provide a full name before we can publish a petition.
