What the petition asks
Research in 2018 shows proposed taxes of 14% on red and 79% on processed meat would reduce consumption and bring a saving of £700m in UK healthcare. Equivalent to the salary of 34000 newly trained nurses.
Our consumption of meat is also linked to the climate emergency our world is now facing.
