Ban filibustering in UK Parliament.

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

Alistair Burt - patent expired medications. Philip Davies - nurses parking free at hospitals, Christopher Chope - upskirting laws and landlords making properties fit to live in. Filibusterers! Filibustering is a harmful, selfish act, and is undemocratic. Ban filibustering in UK Parliament.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

The Speaker can already stop MPs from speaking if they are making irrelevant or repetitive speeches. Any MP can also try to move a motion to end the debate and vote on the issue under discussion, as long as the debate has lasted a suitable amount of time and enough MPs support the proposal.

If there are specific changes to the rules of the House of Commons you would like to see, you could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
