Ban non-biodegradable sanitary products & non-reusable non-biodegradable nappies

Closed 45 signatures

What the petition asks

The plastic components of sanitary towels and nappies take 500 - 800 years to decompose in landfill. With 32 million women recorded to live in the UK in the last census, and millions of children using nappies each day these monthly "disposable" items contribute significantly to landfill waste.
We are facing a time of climate crisis, and we need to change awareness and give people options to help immediately reduce the impact on the environment. Disposable plastics are a hot topic of discussion, yet biodegradable and reusable sanitary and nappy options are not even available in most big chains with many people not even knowing they exist. There are amazing biodegradable options available it's time we raised awareness and helped to ban the use of non-degradable options for consumption.
