Leave Gateshead’s Special School Post-16 provision alone!

What the petition asks
The Local Authority are looking at limiting Post-16 special school provision for young people with additional needs in Gateshead. This will limit Gateshead’s most vulnerable young people’s choice of Post-16 provisions and cut the amount of time they can spend within these provisions.
The proposal has been put together as a cost cutting exercise with no credible research into the effect it will have on outcomes for young people. There is no long term strategic view to support young people who may subsequently become NEET and will require significant support from adult services.
