Make a prime minister’s resignation trigger a general election.

What the petition asks
General elections are currently scheduled every 5 years, this means the next one would not be until 2022. We are currently facing the prospect of yet another unelected prime minster. With the position of politics drastically different to 2017, a PM’s resignation should automatically trigger a GE.
This will allow parties to best prepare for Brexit policies in their manifestos, and elect MPs with a fresh mandate, but also protect against a further future of undemocratically elected PMs.
