What the petition asks

The new leader of the conservative party will be elected by only 24000 members of the conservative party. Whoever wins will be a Prime Minister without a mandate of the citizens of the UK. Democracy must prevail a General Election is the only way the negotiations with the EU will have legitimacy.

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.

If Theresa May resigns as Prime Minister a general election must be held.
