What the petition asks

There are many environmentally friendly, biodegradable packaging solutions which can be used as an alternative to plastic. Yet most companies will never switch to these whilst plastic remains the cheaper option. Only when it's cheaper to be sustainable will companies initiate change.

Plastic is destroying our planet and ruining our oceans. A tax on plastic packaging will make using plastic a more expensive option that used environmentally friendly alternatives.

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.

Put a tax on the use of single-use plastic packaging to encourage alternatives.
