What the petition asks
This petition is calling on the Government to replace the "fit and proper" tests for football club ownership by creating a new charter for football club ownership in law, taking the responsibility away from the FA and EFL, which have repeatedly failed.
Port Vale, Darlington, Luton Town, Wrexham, Leyton Orient, Blackpool, Coventry, Bury, Bolton Wanderers have all been victims or look like becoming victims of the current EFL and FA fit and proper person test. The number of clubs that have had their existence threatened over the past 10 years is testament that the EFL and FA’s current policies and tests are not fit for purpose themselves and threaten the clubs and competitions they are supposed to represent.
