Third Party Payments available to those on UC - as other benefits do.

What the petition asks
TPP is a deduction of the service charge directly from somebody’s benefits (ESA or JSA). TPP is used by housing providers as a way of supporting residents to pay their service charge (heat light water contribution) and not to get into rent arrears.
Over the years, the method worked extremely well for our licensees, who due to different issues (learning disabilities, mental health etc) showed an inability to pay the service charge.
we have been informed that UC as a benefit will not accept service charge payments for rent arrears. JSA & ESA have been accepting of TPP and as all claimants will eventually be in receipt of UC. Therefore, we were seeking discussion, as this was a preventative strategy for preventing homelessness.
